Recipes:
Blueberry Margarita - 2 Servings
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 2 oz's Lime juice (from 2-3 limes)
- 5 oz's Silver Tequila
- 3 oz's Triple Sec
- Rimming sugar
- Ice
Instructions:
1. Muddle blueberries with lime juice until thoroughly crushed. The more you agitate the berries, the more intense the colour will be. Strain through a finemesh sieve, discarding skins and seeds.
2. In a glass or cocktail shaker combie blueberry lime mixture, Tequila, and Triple Sec.
3. To rim, spread around a few Tbsps. of bueberry sugar in a flat shallow dish that is as big as the top of your glass. Rub a spent lime around each rim of the glass, then dip into sugar. The sugar should stick to the rim of the glass.
4. Fill glasses with ice and divide margarita mixture among them and serve.
Blueberry Mojito:
- 1/4 to 1/3 cup fresh blueberries (plus more for garnish)
- 8-10 fresh mint leaves
- 1/2 lime, cut into wedges (or 1-2 Tbsps fresh lime juice)
- 1 oz simple syrup or 1-2 tsps sugar/honey to taste
- 2 oz's White Rum
- club soda or sparkling water
- crushed or cubed ice
Instructions:
1. Muddle: In a highball or collins glass, combine the blueberries, fresh mint leaves, lime wedges (or juice), and sweetener. Use a muddler or the back of a wooden to gently crush the ingredients until the berries have released their juices and the mint is fragrant (approx. 30 seconds).
2. Add rum: Pour in the white rum and stir to combine the ingredients.
3. Add Ice and Soda: Fill the glass with ice and topit off with a slash of club soda or sparkling water.
4. Stir and Garnish: Gently stir the cocktail. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint, a lime wheel, and a few extra blueberries.
For Mocktail: Omit the rum and add an extra splashof club soda or lemon-lime soda for a non-alcoholic version.
Blueberry Bourbon Smash:
- 1/2 lemon cut into wedges
- 1/4 cup blueberries
- 8-10 mint leaves
- 2 oz's Bourbon
- 1 oz Simple Syrup
- Ice
- Club soda for topping (optional)
- mint sprig for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
1. Add the lemon wedges and blueberries to a cocktail shaker and place mint leaves on top. Muddle until the blueberries and lemon wedges break down.
2. Pour in the bourbon and simple syrup and add in a handful of ice. Put the top on and shake until cold, about 15-30 seconds.
3. Replace the cocktail shaker top with a cocktail strainer and our into ice filled glasses. If desired, top with club soda and gently stir. Place a mint sprig in the palm of your hand and quickly clap the sprig with your other hand to release its fragrance and garnish. Enjoy!
Notes: If making your own simple syrup, add 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar to a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring often to dissolve the sugar. Allow to cool store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for several weeks.
The club soda gives it more of a spritzer feel if you want something light and bubbly for the summer, but for a strong blueberry and bourbon flavour, skip the club soda.
Blueberry Lemon/Lime Cooler Mocktail:
- 1 cup frozen or fresh blueberries
- 1/2 cup sugar (or honey)
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup fresh lemon or lime juices
- 3 cups sparkling water (or club soda)
- Ice
Instructions:
Make Syrup: In a sauce pan, simmer blueberries, water, and sugar for 5-10 minutes until berries burst.
Strain: Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing on the solids to extract all liquid, then let it cool completely.
Combine: Stir in mthe lemon or lime juice to the cooled syrup.
Serve: Fill glasses with ice, fill 1/4 to 1/2 with the blueberry mix, and top with sparkling water.
